Free at last

A 70-year-old North Carolina black man framed by police was freed from prison today after serving 38 years of a life sentence for a double murder he didn’t commit. Joseph Sledge was convicted by testimony of a jailhouse informant who was coached by cops about what to say, and promised leniency in his drug case in return.  None of the crime scene evidence — fingerprints, hair, or DNA — matched Sledge.
