SHAME SHAME on Israel

Johannesburg , South Africa – Benjamin Netanyahu has brought same on Israel and the entire Jewish people. The Israeli boycotted Mandela’s funeral .. failing to join leaders from all over the world undermines any credibility the Jewish state has.
The Jewish community of South Africa, long an ally of Mr. Mandela, saw the snub of the Nelson Mandela tribute as missing a “golden opportunity” to improve relations. Zev Krengel, president of the South African Jewish Board of Deputies, chided Netanyahu over the “financial hardship” excuse given for his absence, saying that using such an excuse only perpetuates existing stereotypes about Jews being miserly.
Krengel said accepted that Israeli president Peres’ age as a valid excuse for his absence, but refused to give Netanyahu a pass.

Mandela, like many remarkable figures in history, acts like a Rorschach (“Ink Blot”) test as those who see him, by how they see him, and what in him they see or don’t see, reveal more about themselves and their own inner selves than about Mandela or those other remarkable figures. Some see the revolutionary; some see the his ability to compromise with the worst of his enemies; some see his ability to forgive and not show bitterness or anger at all he had suffered; some see the voice in the wilderness when few if any outside of South Africa cared or knew anything about say Sharpville and before up until about 1974.
Who are the ones who say “that’s history” and by that they mean, “the past is past, it has nothing to do with the present, get over it if you are angry”. They are usually the ones who caused the tragedies and worse, that they now dismiss as merely “the past” and nothing to do with the present, something to be gotten over with, by their victims and without making their victimizers uncomfortable.. Who are the ones who do not care about credentials other than the ones who do not have them? Of course when they are slighted, the past is no longer “just the past” but now informs and constrains the present, and when they fly on an airplane or have surgery, all of a sudden credentials do matter. The mentalities of many of those who showed up for this years “must attend” and most chic photo-op event of the year, Mandela’s funeral, are summed up in this poem I often quote from Bertolt Brecht:
Those who take the meat from the table,
teach contentment.
Those for whom the taxes are destined,
demand sacrifice.
Those who eat their fill, speak to the hungry,
of wonderful times to come.
Those who lead the country into the abyss,
call ruling too difficult,
for ordinary folk.
Who are the ones who want easy and “comfortable” reconciliation and without any care as to real healing on the part of the oppressed with whom “reconciliation” is being sought? And who are the ones who talk about easy (for them) and comfortable “healing” on the part of the oppressed without those oppressed having received justice? And who are the ones impervious to the oppressed having been denied justice or having been handed what passed for justice without the truth? They are the ones who now show up for a photo-op and a slice of history with their names in it, but who know and care nothing about the real fact that without truth no real justice is possible; without truth and justice, no real healing is possible; without truth, justice and healing, no real reconciliation is possible; and without real truth, justice, healing, reconciliation, no prevention of future reprisals or forms of abuse is possible. And without truth, justice, healing, reconciliation and prevention of future reprisals and abuse, no place exists that values, seeks, embraces and demands truth…
I for one, and I rarely do this, salute the Israeli Government for not having the shere chutzpah to attend Mandela’s funeral or show any concern or care for his death. Unlike so many of those “world leaders” and “dignitaries” who attended Mandela’s funeral, requiring for their security, more troops than the French allocated to the Central African Republic to try to stop proto-genocide, who kept Mandela on the U.S. Terrorist Watch List until 2008, 15 years after he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, or who supported Apartheid openly and opposed any sanctions against the regime that they promoted trade with, the Israelis were covert but unapologetic for their own intrigue and support for Apartheid South Africa whose government, by the way, was full of real out-and-out Nazis interned during WWII as members of the South African Nazi Party.
And some of those dignitaries are not just war criminals from and in the past, some of them are still involved in wars founded on lies, pretexts (which are also lies), cherry picked intelligence, covert and overt acts of war against sovereign nations: the same basic five crimes that Nazis where hanged for at Nuremberg (Waging Aggressive War, Crimes Against Peace, Crimes Against Humanity, War Crimes and Conspiracy to Wage Aggressive War) . So Mandela’s name is used not only to cover-up the past which included policies the kept the Apartheid regime of South Africa going and people like Mandela in jail or Steve Biko murdered in BOSS custody, but to use and leverage his name to carry-out all the kinds of policies, wars and systems he opposed.

But the Israelis have a limit on chutzpah. They were covert but unapologetic for their partnership to develop jointly, nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons with South Africa (https://sttpml.org/israels-secret-nuclear-biological-and-chemical-weapons-nbc/ as they howl about Iran that has declared they consider WMDs to be anti-Islamic as well as un-Islamic and call them liars). They were covert but unapologetic for training the creatures of the infamous BOSS (Bureau of State Security) of Apartheid South Africa in torture, interrogation techniques and in being suppliers of all sorts of high-tech gear of any national security-surveillance state. For example, many of the techniques and crimes employed by the Nazis (medical experimentation, sterilization, ghettoization, starvation, biological warfare, eugenics laws, chemical warfare, etc) are routinely used in and outside of Israel against Palestinians, Blacks of Soweto, Indigenous peoples in Central and Latin America , and even against Sephardic and other Jews.

Years later, I met Uri again. This time he was in the Mossad, a veteran ‘katsa’ in the Al department, and I was a rookie. He had come back from an assignment in South Africa. I was then a temporary desk man in the Dardasim department in liaison helping him prepare for a large shipment of medication to South Africa to accompany several Israeli doctors who were headed for some humanitarian work in Soweto, a black township outside Johannesburg. The doctors were to assist in treating patients at an outpatient clinic for the Baragwanath hospital in Soweto, a few blocks away from the houses of Winnie Mandela and bishop Desmond Tutu. The hospital and clinic were supported by a hospital in Baltimore, which served as a cut-out for the Mossad. Uri was on a cooling-off period from the United States.

“The Ringworm Children” (translated in Hebrew as “100,000 Rays”), directed by David Belhassen and Asher Hemias, recently won the prize for “best documentary” at the Haifa International film festival, and in the past year has made the rounds of Jewish and Israeli film festivals around the world. But it had yet to come to Israeli television screens. The subject is the mass irradiation of hundreds of thousands of young Israeli immigrants from Middle Eastern countries — Sephardim, as they are called today. The story goes like this:

In 1951, the director general of the Israeli Health Ministry, Dr. Chaim Sheba, flew to America and returned with seven x-ray machines, supplied to him by the American army.

They were to be used in a mass atomic experiment with an entire generation of Sephardi youths to be used as guinea pigs. Every Sephardi child was to be given 35,000 times the maximum dose of x-rays through his head. For doing so, the American government paid the Israeli government 300 million Israeli liras a year. The entire Health budget was 60 million liras. The money paid by the Americans is equivalent to billions of dollars today.

Frankly, Israel showing up for Mandela’s funeral, would have been more than extreme chutzpah; it would have been contempt and worse. It would be like having the likes of Mengele attending the funeral of say David Ben Gurion (not that Ben Gurion was anywhere near the caliber or mentality of Mandela).
